Renault South Africa becomes the official vehicle sponsor of the Lions BET, the Johannesburg-based rugby franchise, marking the brand's first rugby sponsorship in South Africa.

The three-year partnership brings together two brands united by performance, teamwork, resilience, ambition and progress.

Johannesburg, South Africa – 21 August 2026 – Renault South Africa is proud to announce a new three-year partnership with the Lions BET, becoming the team's official vehicle sponsor from August 2026.

The partnership marks Renault South Africa's first sponsorship in rugby. It brings together two brands with a shared passion for performance, progress and creating meaningful connections with people.

The partnership was officially celebrated with a vehicle handover at Renault South Africa's head office in Edenvale, where the team took delivery of a 14-vehicle fleet made up of the Renault Duster, Kiger, Captur and Trafic Passenger. Representatives from Renault and the Lions came together to mark the beginning of the collaboration.

United by shared values

Rugby holds a special place in South African sporting culture, bringing people together across communities through a shared sense of pride, passion and belonging. For Renault, the partnership creates an opportunity to connect with this highly engaged audience beyond the traditional automotive environment.
With their strong Johannesburg identity and close connection to supporters, the Lions are a natural partner for Renault South Africa. On the field and on the road, both brands are shaped by the same drive to perform, adapt and keep moving forward.

"Sport has a remarkable ability to bring people together, and this partnership gives Renault South Africa an exciting opportunity to connect with the passion and energy of Lions rugby. Our brands share a strong belief in performance, resilience, teamwork and ambition, but our vision extends well beyond sponsorship visibility. Together, we want to create meaningful experiences that bring Renault closer to Lions supporters, inspire new connections and add real value for our customers and communities," said Shumani Tshifularo, CEO of Renault South Africa.

Taking the partnership beyond the field

Over the next three years, Renault South Africa and the Lions will bring the partnership to life through brand visibility, digital and social content, match-day presence, and selected experiences for supporters and Renault customers.

The collaboration will focus on relevant, memorable moments that connect the Renault brand with the passion and energy surrounding the Lions, both on and off the field. Further details about future initiatives will be shared as the partnership develops.

For Renault South Africa, the partnership reflects a broader belief in the power of sport to create opportunity, inspire ambition and strengthen connections with communities. Together, Renault and the Lions are ready to move forward - driven by a shared commitment to performance and made for the moments that bring South Africans together.
